Whittlesey Museum
Whittlesey Museum, Market Street, Whittlesey
Whittlesey, Coates, Eastrea, Pondersbridge and Turves from prehistoric times to the modern day
Whittlesey Museum was founded in 1976 as part of the Whittlesey Society and is now an independent charitable trust.
The museum is located on the ground floor of the early 19th century Town Hall in Whittlesey.
Gallery displays are mounted in the former caretaker’s cottage and in the area previously used to house the town’s horse drawn fire engine. The collections largely cover social history and the development of the local area. Outside in the museum courtyard a forge, wheelwright’s bench and agricultural equipment recall occupations which supported the local economy.
Whittlesey Museum is a volunteer led organisation and is financially self-supporting. It is a Registered Museum and gained Accreditation in 2007.
