March is the largest of our three Fenland Stations situated in the middle of our Hereward Line.
March Railway Station is also the home of the Friends of March Railway Station (FOMRS) Station Adopter Group (who manage and maintain the heritage side of the station) and the March Station Adopters (who tend to the operational side of the station).
March is a busy station with direct links to many towns and cities including Ipswich, Stansted Airport, Birmingham and Cambridge. March is located between Whittlesea and Manea Stations and is roughly 85 miles from London Liverpool Street (via Ely).
March Station is managed by Greater Anglia and consists of two platforms accessed by a footbridge or step free access via the B1101 Station Road Level Crossing. Facilities include a ticket office, waiting rooms, toilets, ticket machines and a vending machine. Cycle parking is available on both platforms.
A brand-new car park was opened in 2022 and now offers ample and spacious facilities with easy access to the newly-modernised Platform 1 Building.
Station adopters are people that act as the eyes and ears for the train operating company, usually at unstaffed stations. Adopters agree a simple programme of works every year. This includes making sure the station is clean and tidy, checking that information is up to date and managing areas that have become overgrown.
Greater Anglia is a member of our Hereward Community Rail Partnership and is keen to encourage and support adopters at their stations.
Friends of March Railway Station (FOMRS) are the Station Adopter Group who look after March Railway Station.
If you are interested in volunteering at March railway station please contact the FOMRS and Greater Anglia.
