10 MINUTE WALK TO RAILWORLD WILDLIFE HAVEN (follow the tourist signs)
RAILWORLD WILDLIFE HAVEN
Here you can enjoy a haven of wildlife and learn about the railway and our world where volunteers have created a habitat for nature with model railways.
We recommend allowing at least a couple of hours to enjoy the centre at your leisure.
Visit their website for more information.
LUNCH
You can either stay at Railworld Wildlife Haven and enjoy a picnic if you want to stay in the centre and train spot!
Alternatively, you can take the short, 15-minute walk into the city centre where you will find an array of eateries, covering all tastes. Another option would be to walk back through the Rivergate Arcade where you will find more independent food and drink options.
From either Railworld Wildlife Haven or the city centre, you then have a short walk to Peterborough Museum (approximately 15 minutes).
PETERBOROUGH MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY
Once at the Museum and Art Gallery, you can explore a fascinating array of artefacts spanning 150 million years showcasing Peterborough’s fascinating history, environment and culture.
A small coffee shop on site also provides the opportunity for a well-earned cuppa before continuing your day exploring the city!
We suggest approximately two hours for a leisurely visit.
For details and opening times, visit the website: Peterborough Museum.
AFTERNOON
PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL
From the Museum and Art Gallery, a short 5-minute walk takes you right into the heart of the city and you immediately see the spectacle that is Peterborough Cathedral – one of the finest Norman Cathedrals in Europe.
You can choose to either explore the site at leisure or join one of the organised tours (these take between 1-2 hours and include a tour of the grounds too).
The Cathedral is the final resting place of Katherine of Aragon and the Gothic architecture is sure to take your breath away.
Across the square from the Cathedral is the Queensgate Shopping Centre, which is packed full of an array of retailers and outlets for you to browse. If you have time, then a short walk away from the centre are the smaller Rivergate and Westgate Arcades, which offer a selection of independent retailers.

You may also choose to walk down to the Embankment and enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle.
Here you will also find The Key Theatre and Lido (outdoor swimming pools) as well as a range of outlets at Fletton Quays and the home of Peterborough United Football Club (POSH) across the river.
