Ely Country Park and loop around the river, before enjoying a picnic in Cherry Hill Park under the watchful eye of Ely Cathedral.

Hop on a Hereward Line train to Ely. Regular services stop at Ely by three Hereward Line train operators – Greater Anglia, CrossCountry Trains, and East Midlands Railway.

ELY COUNTRY PARK

Take the short walk from the railway station, following he river, along the Quayside, towards Ely Country Park.
There are two trial options here – Kingfisher (long trail) and Bulrush (short trail).

You can expect to see an array of flora and fauna along your way including a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

LUNCH

You can either choose to picnic in one of the parks or wander up to the High Street and take your pick of food from the array of fabulous cafes, restaurants and street food stalls (on selected days).

AFTERNOON

ELY CATHEDRAL

After lunch, you can choose to explore the grounds of the Cathedral and then wander down through Ely Porta into Cherry Hill Park and enjoy some time in the open space – there are plenty of hills for rolling down too if you fancy finding your inner child!

If you have little people in tow and fancy visiting a petting farm, then you can hop back on the train and take the short 8-miute ride to Soham, where you will find South Angle Farm.

Open daily, except term-time, the small family-run farm provides a unique opportunity for you to get up close with their selection of animals including chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs as well as snakes, reptiles and spiders! In the fields, you will find alpaca’s, llamas, horses and donkeys too!
